As a skilled and knowledgeable instructor, Tomoyoshi provides insight into the evolution of Samurai swordsmanship into Kendo. Gain unique insights into the profound impact of Bushido values on Japanese history and Tomoyoshi’s family, especially during the turbulent period of the Second World War, while delighting in captivating stories of Samurai valor about Tomoyoshi’s great-grandfather, Yoshishige Hayashi. His personal story of redemption leading to peace and pacifism is both enlightening and inspiring.
After the lecture, you will wear the full Kendo armors and learn the basic Kendo movements. At the end, you will get to do the Kendo match to each other. Upon successfully completing the workshop, you will receive a beautifully designed “Certificate of Experience”. Tomoyoshi will teach you everything in English. Q&A is always welcomed. Photo taking is freely allowed. His wife, Tomoko, who also has a rich Kendo experience will assist ladies and children in any necessary way. The costs of taking a Kyudo lesson are usually very high. In this class, all the necessary equipment for Kyudo is prepared for you. All you need is passion and comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely!
In this beginner-friendly experience, learn the practice of Kyudo. This includes learning about the proper form, as well as the tools and techniques used. Explore the history of Kyudo and gain a better understanding of this traditional martial art.

Please note that our teacher provides hands-on guidance as he shows how to correctly take the proper stance and hold the bow.

- The Dojo is considered as a sacred martial arts center in Japan, so please act with respectful manner.
- Please note that due to the summer heat/humidity and to ensure the comfort of our guests, the location (Former Budoku hall) may be changed to an air-conditioned dojo.
- Observing while your friends or families are participating the workshop is possible but please contact us in advance.
