Discover the timeline of the city from the 1800s to the 2010s on this immersive Osaka history food tour. Led by a friendly and knowledgeable bilingual guide, you will visit five stops across four different districts to experience places you would normally never go on your own. Your journey begins in the “New World” of the Shinsekai district to taste a Kushikatsu set and learn about the city’s history up to World War 2. Next, explore the post-World War 2 connections and the largest Korean community in Japan in the Tsuruhashi district, where you will navigate a local food market and enjoy a Japanese-Korean fusion Yakiniku barbecue set. After that, visit Kyobashi, one of the oldest districts and train stations built in 1895, for a traditional sushi discovery set.
Continue your journey to the old foodie district of Tenma, named after the spirit of knowledge and studies. Here, you will walk down the famous Tenjinbashi-Suji Shopping Street—the longest in Japan—to enter a mindblowing hidden museum that takes you back to the middle of the Edo Period to walk through narrow streets from the 1800s. Finally, finish the tour in the best conditions possible at a local bar serving authentic Minoh craft beer from the north of Osaka. - Transportation & JR Pass: This tour utilizes the JR Loop Line. If you do not hold a JR Pass, you will have to pay for transportation to go to each location, for a total extra cost of ¥480 (170 + 170 + 140)
- Dietary Restrictions & Allergies: This tour has been designed without any dietary restrictions. Some dishes might contain meat, fish, gluten, and other ingredients that might not be suitable for vegetarians, vegans, or those with allergies. Please inform us when booking so we can prevent anything from happening during the tour
- Vegetarian & Vegan Option: A special Vegetarian/Vegan Osaka Food tour version is currently in development. It will end at the exact same time and place as this tour, so guests from both tours can meet at the end to share their experiences
- Please bring good humor, hunger, and comfortable clothes and shoes
- While it is not compulsory to tip, it is an appreciated gesture that acknowledges the guide's exceptional service
- This experience is completely wheelchair accessible, stroller/pram accessible, and accessible for those with limited mobility or limited eyesight. Public transportation is nearby
