We’re excited to share that HONEY J successfully launched a paid advertising campaign for our Kintsugi experience in Kyoto, running from September 1 to 30, 2025.

Through this campaign, we reached more audiences from around the world who are interested in learning about Japan’s traditional art of Kintsugi — the beautiful technique of repairing broken pottery with gold.

Thanks to the ads, we saw a noticeable increase in bookings, welcoming participants from various nationalities and backgrounds. More importantly, we were able to spread and share the deep knowledge, history, and story behind Kintsugi — the art of embracing imperfections and finding beauty in broken things.

This milestone shows how digital marketing and cultural tourism can come together to promote Japan’s traditions globally.

What is Kintsugi?

Kintsugi is the traditional Japanese art of repairing broken pottery using gold (金), creating a unique and beautiful piece. The word itself combines “金” (gold) and “継ぎ” (join).

More than a craft, it embodies the philosophy of wabi-sabi — finding beauty in imperfection and valuing the history of an object. To explore the cultural roots of this art form, the Japan National Tourism Organization offers helpful background on Japan’s traditional crafts.
