We’re excited to announce that our Ikebana experience in Kyoto has been featured on 47Trip!
47Trip is a website that showcases rankings of hotels and ryokan (Japanese inns) recommended by Japanese people. Locals suggest accommodations suited to various travel purposes — such as sightseeing around Mt. Fuji, exploring Kyoto, visiting otaku-mecca sites, or staying at lodgings known for delicious Japanese cuisine. Covering all 47 prefectures, it offers local insights for every corner of Japan.
This feature shines a light on one of our most immersive cultural experiences: a hands-on introduction to the art of Ikebana, led by our trusted guide and certified Ikebana instructor, Ayumi Ikushima.
We are delighted that 47Trip chose to highlight this experience among their carefully curated selection of cultural activities. You can read the full feature here: Hands-On Japan: From Culinary Arts to Cultural Traditions and Timeless Encounters.

This curated tour is led by our certified guide, Ayumi — an expert in Japanese gardens, Ikebana, miniature gardens, and Japanese painting. With extensive experience as a lecturer and interpreter, Ayumi brings a unique perspective shaped by years living in Europe, where she gained fluency in French, English, and German.
Passionate about bridging Eastern and Western cultures, she delights in introducing visitors to Japan’s rich traditions, arts, cuisine, philosophy, and ecological spirit. As the author of “Kyoto’s World of Fragrance” and “Important People and Japanese Gardens,” Ayumi invites you to explore Kyoto’s beauty and cultural heritage firsthand.
In this experience, Ayumi takes you to Hanamasa, a historic flower shop in Kyoto with over 140 years of history. Here, you’ll learn about the beauty of Japanese flowers and the history behind them, while receiving advice on how to choose the right blooms for your own special combination.
After discovering the flowers, you’ll join a hands-on Ikebana workshop guided by Ayumi, a certified instructor of the Saga Goryū Ikebana School. You’ll explore the fundamentals of Ikebana and create your own original arrangement — designed by you, with expert support, to reflect both personal expression and seasonal harmony.
To learn more about the cultural roots of Ikebana, Japan’s traditional art of flower arrangement, the official tourism guide is a great starting point.
