A Journey into the Spirit of Kintsugi
Guided by the concept of “returning to the earth,”
this immersive 90-minute program (up to 120 minutes)
introduces not only the highlight of classical Kintsugi.
The gold powder decoration (Kinmaki)
but also the full process of restoration and the rich history behind it.
Through slides and video, you will learn about the profound beauty
of traditional techniques that Hiroki has masteredover 50 years
of lacquer restoration,
as well as the deeper philosophy of Kintsugi
in addressing challenges of modern society.
Inside the studio, you will witness the muro (drying chamber for lacquer),
observe works in progress, and view completed Kintsugi pieces.
On this experience, all Kintsugi is carried out with genuine
Japanese urushi lacquer and pure gold powder—
sustainable, natural materials that have been used for centuries.
