Begin by learning about the structure, materials, and history of tatami, followed by a short tour of the workshop. Then, try your hand at traditional tatami hand stitching under expert guidance.
You will also create your own tatami coaster to take home—a meaningful souvenir made by you.

our instructor is a highly experienced tatami craftsman with many years in the industry. Friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to, he enjoys sharing stories and insights about tatami culture and Japanese craftsmanship.
Even if this is your first time in Japan or your first encounter with tatami, you can join with confidence—no prior experience is needed.
The workshop is fully hands-on, with careful and patient instruction throughout the experience.
After the workshop, guests may stroll around the nearby temples, including Konkai Kōmyō-ji Temple, located just in front of the workshop venue.
